About The Chronicle Theatre Company

Two former Royal Shakespeare Company actors, Julian Curry and Mary Chater with the Italian theatre manager, Sandro Pascucci, founded the company in 2014 in Italy. The company was then re established as a UK registered charity in 2016. A programme of productions, educational workshops and summer schools in the UK and Italy was undertaken with the support of grants, including from Arts Council England.

In early 2023 a new board was constituted to put in motion the objective of taking productions with associated workshops into schools (state and private) and prisons.

Our mission

Our aim is to enhance understanding and appreciation of the works of Shakespeare to explore how we can breathe new life into the stories - a representative chronicle of our times. We will encourage our audience and participants to connect with society to realise their hopes and talents for the future through the transformative power of Shakespeare and theatre.

In your words

The girls got so much out of the session and I am sure they will all be very excited about studying Macbeth in September.

High school teacher

A refreshingly clear, pared-down but focused, retelling of a classic in which we glean enlightening nuances of plot and subtleties of character

London Theatre Reviews

I loved doing the drama group and I feel loads more confident in myself.
